9 Tips for getting the best out of VAi

Here are my top 9 Tips for getting the best out of VAi, the UK’s first ai-powered insolvency bot for company insolvency:
1. Be Specific and Direct: Clearly articulate what you need from VAi. The more precise your request (especially the first input), the more relevant the VAi’s response will be. Try to avoid VAi having to guess or assume.
2. Provide Context: Offer enough background information to guide VAi’s understanding of the task. Context is key to achieving responses that are not just accurate but personalised. .
3 Set the Right Tone: Specify the tone of the output you’re expecting, whether it’s informal or technical. For example, if you want VAi to cite or refer to statute, tell it. If you don’t, it won’t. Merely explaining who you are – director of a company that’s struggling, and accountant to such a company, a lawyer, or an insolvency practitioner will help it determine the likely tone, but that might not be what you’re looking for.
4. Structure Your Prompt Clearly: Use bullet points, questions, or numbered lists if you’re presenting or asking for multiple pieces of information or steps. A well-structured prompt leads to well-structured responses. For long prompts, write it into Microsoft Word or similar first and ensure you’re happy with it.
5. Have a Proper Conversation: Talk to the Bot as if you were talking to a real human being face to face across the table. A face to face meeting with an IP would have a proper structure – you would both work hard to ensure the IP understood your circumstances, you would set out what you wanted to achieve, you would be told the options, you would both then explore those options in detail, including the process, and the pros and cons of each. Copy that structure into your interaction with VAi. It’s even better if before you start talking to VAi if you have a proper plan for the interaction – you would have some plans for a face to face meeting, those plans are just as important with VAi.
6. Use Simple and Concise Language: Avoid jargon, unless it’s relevant to the task, and keep your sentences clear and to the point. This reduces the chance of misunderstanding.
7. Tell VAi Exactly How You Want The Output: If you want it in bullet point form, in a list, in email or letter form, tell it. And tell it how how long you want the response to be – say 200 words, 500 words etc.
8. Challenge It: If you think it’s wrong, tell it. If you think it’s missed something, tell it. If you don’t like what it has produced, for example, it’s produced a letter that’s too friendly or aggressive, tell it. If you don’t like a paragraph of a letter, tell it. VAi will try again.
9. Stay Informed About AI Capabilities: AI technology evolves rapidly. Keeping up-to-date with its capabilities can help you craft more effective prompts.
